About Top Gun Police Motor Officers' Competition

Sponsored & Presented by
Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club
Colorado Chapter 1

The "Top Gun Police Motor Officers' Competition" began in the late 1980s as the brainchild of several of our Charter Members. It became a reality in the desire to create an event that would bring together motor officers from as many different departments as possible in an atmosphere of friendship and skills demonstration that could also serve as an "in service training" at a time when there wasn't much of that available. Originally done as a single day event, we are now needing three full days, including a day for setup of the courses, a day for the officers to walk through and practice and a day for the competition itself.

The competition is always held on the first Sunday in June. Over the years we've seen individual officers as well as complete teams from all over the US as well as Canada come into the Denver for the event and have seen this annual event grow to what we'd like to think is one of the premier events of its type in the country. Our course of competition varies from event to event and is never the same in consecutive years. There are numerous types of motorcycles being utilized in police work today. The courses are carefully designed to create identical skill requirements for each class of machine while taking into consideration the physical capabilities of each make or model.

The event and its many vendors typically draws several hundred spectators, both motorcycle enthusiasts and many who just like to watch and support their favorite officers. While the event is free and open to the public, donations and entry fees for "Top Gun" has become a major fund raiser for our designated charities such as Colorado Special Olympics, the Colorado State Patrol Youth Academy, the Colorado Boys Ranch and others.

Come to the Denver area and enjoy the event's atmosphere, competition, skills improvement and just plain fun.
